Shingle Installation & Replacement
Repairs extend the life of a roof — but at a certain point the shingles themselves need replacing.
Do I Need New Shingles?
A new roof is a big investment, and it can make you wonder whether you really need one. Roof repairs do extend the life of your roof, but at a certain point your shingles may need to be replaced outright.
Shingles are one of the most vital parts of a home. They protect the structure underneath from weather, and once they fail your home is exposed to problems you may not notice until it is too late.
Signs You Need New Roof Shingles
A good roof should last between 20 and 30 years. Check when the original roof was installed and gather any information you can find about the warranty, then look for:
- Shingles that are cracked, curled or visibly worn
- Ceiling water damage — stains on your ceiling or walls, usually the result of a leak
- Daylight visible through the roof boards when you check the attic
- Granules from the shingles collecting in your gutters
